Dick Cheney’s Lesbian Daughter Is Knocked Up

Quoting an unnamed source, The Washington Post is reporting that Vice President Dick Cheney’s openly gay daughter, Mary Cheney, 37, is pregnant, and that she and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are “ecstatic” about the new arrival due in late spring. The same source also said that the circumstances of the pregnancy (i.e. conception) would be kept private.

Mary and Heather’s baby will not be the first grandchild for the Vice President and his wife, Lynne. Mary’s older sister, Elizabeth, and her husband are expecting their fifth child in July.

Even though Dick Cheney, and the administration of which he is a part, is against homosexual marriage and other basic civil rights, he and daughter Mary are quite close. About a year ago, Mary and Heather moved from Colorado to Virginia to be closer to the Cheney family. Back in 2004, Mary aided her father during the campaign, as did her sister Elizabeth. Mary Cheney is now the vice president for consumer advocacy at AOL.

Dick Cheney and his daughter Mary may very well be close, but I bet there’s a big pink elephant in the room when they’re together, and I bet he thinks of Heather Poe as Mary’s “close friend.” I guess I just can’t buy that Dick Cheney accepts his lesbian daughter with open arms. How can a man be so against homosexuality and at the same time have a honest and open relationship with their lesbian daughter? I’m not buying it.
