Switch was an advertising campaign launched by Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) on June 10, 2002. It featured what the company referred to as “real people” who had “switched” from the Microsoft Windows platform to the Mac. An international television and print ad campaign directed users to a website where various myths about the Mac platform were dispelled…..while distinctive, [the campaign] was not very effective, and was gradually phased out in 2003. The advertising concept of the Mac’s advantages over the PC was later revived for the Get a Mac campaign in 2006.

- The company, incorporated January 3, 1977, was known as “Apple Computer, Inc.” for its first 30 years. On January 9, 2007, the company dropped “Computer” from its corporate name, reflecting the company’s ongoing expansion into the consumer electronics market in addition to its traditional focus on personal computers.
- As of September 2007, Apple Inc. operates about 200 retail stores in five countries and an online store where hardware and software products are sold.
