Today is Easter Sunday.

In case you don’t know, today is the day that Christians celebrate Jesus rising, after being crucified on Good Friday. But for most people it’s about the Easter bunny, Easter egg hunts and chocolate.

Apparently for me, it’s about doing laundry at my parents’ house and finishing my step-dad’s book that I’ve been working on for almost a year. Well, it has been in my possession for almost a year, but I haven’t exactly been working on it that whole time.

Hope you have a hipity-hopity day!

As with almost all “Christian” holidays, Easter has been secularized and commercialized. The dichotomous nature of Easter and its symbols, however, is not necessarily a modern fabrication. Wilstar.com – Easter

Easter is the time of springtime festivals, a time to welcome back the Tulips, the Crocuses and the Daffodils. Its a time of new suits, new dresses and patent leather shoes. A time for Christians to celebrate the life and resurrection of Christ. Holiday.net – Easter

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
-Robert Frost (1915)
