Not A Normal Tuesday.

Ever have one of those days when the universe throws you a curve ball and you’re not quite sure how to handle it? Today is one of those days.

It started off okay – I woke early and straightened my hair (something I haven’t done in a while), took a nice shower, and put on a brand new outfit. I left my house at the normal time and had an average drive to work.

And that’s pretty much where the humdrum ends.

I arrived at the office and used my key card to unlock the door. As I did so, I noticed that the mats that are usually inside the entryway were outside in front of the doors. I didn’t think too much of it until I entered the building and was met by the loud humming of industrial fans and a lobby in chaos.

Looking bewildered as I made my way to the time clock, the office manager informed me that the water heater broke yesterday. Lovely, I thought to myself, this will certainly put a wrench into the day.

I settled in and prepared for the wrath of employees as they arrived at work. Everyone is asking the same question and I’m very tempted to make a big sign: WATER HEATER BURST. NOT MY FAULT. I honestly don’t understand why people seem to take it personally when something out of human control happens at the office. It’s not like this was done on purpose just to impede their ability to work. And how does telling me, “this isn’t good” while pointing at the mess on the way to meet a client in the lobby do any good? What do they expect me to do about it? I’m just as inconvenienced as the rest of them. At least they don’t have to listen to the mind-numbing hum of the fans. At least they have office doors to close.

I’m doing my best not to go insane. But the blowing noise is certainly testing my patience. I sure hope they don’t have to stay on all day. It’s like Chinese Water Torture.
