Exploding Water Heaters Suck!
My goodness it’s been a crazy week for me. As I mentioned on Tuesday, the water heater at my office blew up. The blast was so strong, a part of the water heater flew through a wall. Now the office is being ripped up, from the carpeting to the baseboards, and beyond. Quite a mess, I must say.
While the repairs are being done, we’re hunkering down at our other office. A MUCH smaller office, where we have to share desks and there is only one toilet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this temporary situation is over sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, I’ve been moving furniture out of the water war path and going back and forth from office to office like an executive assistant chicken with its head cut off. Did I mention it’s in the 90s here during the day?
But being the rock star that I am, I’m handling it all fabulously, and still getting all my day to day work done.
You know, things like a water heater exploding and having to relocate a whole office in a few hours really puts things into perspective. My life could be a whole lot worse. At least I have a job to go to each day and a home to sleep in each night. I don’t have nearly as much money as many others, but I make enough to always have gas in my car; a car that I am forever grateful to have.
All that aside, it sure would be nice to never have to deal with such problems. Of course, I wouldn’t necessarily want anyone else’s problems in exchange. All I have to do is look at the women in my age group around me and in the media, to see that my life isn’t all that bad. I’ve never been arrested then violated my probation then whined about having to spend a month in jail because I broke the law. I’ve never gotten divorced then shaved my head then been forced into rehab. And I’ve never gotten a DUI then been photographed two nights later passed out drunk in the front seat of my friend’s car.
See, life could be worse.
