It was on this day in 1968 that “Hey Jude” by The Beatles hit No. 1 on the music charts. Two weeks earlier the song debuted at No. 10 – at the time, the highest spot ever hit by a new release. To this day, “Hey Jude” holds the record as the longest song to hit No. 1.
