Thanksgiving. Thanks For Nothing!

Wednesday 21st November 2007 - 12:38:38 PM

Ok, so I’m not exactly thankful for nothing, but I’m not overflowing with thanks either. Raise your hand if this past year has been as hard for you as it has for me. Yes, yes, I know it could be worse…blah, blah, blah…but the fact remains that as of this instant, my life is pretty sucky. I am, however, thankful for a couple of things nonetheless…

I am thankful for my Therapist.
I am thankful for my Pedro Friends (you know who you are).

Now that I think about it, good friends and a good Therapist are pretty hard to come by, so I guess I’m luckier than I thought.

Thanksgiving words to live and laugh by…

Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. ~Theodore Roosevelt

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

There is one day that is ours. There is one day when all we Americans who are not self-made go back to the old home to eat saleratus biscuits and marvel how much nearer to the porch the old pump looks than it used to. Thanksgiving Day is the one day that is purely American. ~O. Henry

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence. ~Erma Bombeck

What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving? ~Erma Bombeck

I love Thanksgiving turkey. It’s the only time in Los Angeles that you see natural breasts. ~Arnold Schwarzenegger

Thanksgiving, man. Not a good day to be my pants. ~Kevin James

Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often. ~Johnny Carson

I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land. ~Jon Stewart
