At Christmas, 22 million turkeys are eaten while each Easter only 19 million are consumed.
Turkey meat is high in protein, having more than chicken or beef, and low in fat. The white meat of a turkey has less fat and fewer calories than the dark meat.
A turkey’s head changes color when it becomes excited, which other turkeys can clearly see since turkeys can see color.
In the U.S. today, turkey growers produce enough turkeys for every person in the country to have one – in 1920 there was one turkey for every 29 people in the country.
During test runs that broke the sound barrier, the US Air Force discovered that turkeys have heart attacks, as nearby birds were dropping dead during the tests.
