Give Thanks To A Recovering American Soldier - CORRECTION

Friday 23rd November 2007 - 11:41:42 PM

So apparently the email I got a few days ago was a fake. Which is totally messed up since the idea behind it is a nice one. What would possess someone to send out a fake address?? Thank you, Big John for pointing this out to me. I apologize for any grief or confusion my misinformation may have caused.

This idea is BOGUS do not follow these instructions under any circumstance. SNOPES.com

Please forward this to as many people as you can!

However we here at VFW Post 8208, PO Box653, Ruckersville VA 22968 will be happy to deliver your cards and gifts to the recovering soldiers. We are doing a Christmas dinner for them at VFW Post 3150 and will be there daily thru the Holidays. See www.adoptasoldier.us

I do not know who keeps sending the bogus address but we here at our Post actually know a wounded guy at Walter Reed whose job it is to return or trash generic mail!

VFW Post 8208

The address again:

VFW Post 8208
PO Box653
Ruckersville VA 22968

I ask again, what would possess someone to send out a fake address? They probably did it in hopes of receiving money, which is just plain wrong. From now on Snopes.com and I are going to be good friends.

My 4-H Club (Hintz 4-H of Gillett Wisconsin) recently sent about 200 Christmas cards in one big envelope to A Recovering American Soldier % of Walter Reed Army Medical Center and they were returned .
I am thankful for your site with information that I can send them to you and you will get them to recovering soldiers. This is the third year we have done this and it was very disappointing to have that whole envelope returned.

I will be mailing them out to you on Monday Dec. 3rd

    Thankyou so much.

I am glad to see that a lot of cards packages and letters will still be going to our recovering troops because if you send them to Walter Reed they send them back.

Thanks to everyone who sent items. Please remember that this effort supporting our wounded is not just a Christmas effort here. We are a 24/7/365 effort!
