New York Magazine, that is.
Forty-six years ago the original blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, posed for a nude photo shoot at the Hotel Bel-Air. It would be her last major shoot – hence the title, “The Last Sitting”; the resulting photos are considered to be among the most valuable pictures of Marilyn.
Taken during several boozy sessions at the Hotel Bel-Air, the photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America’s most famous actress: Monroe, sleepy-eyed and naked, sips from a Champagne glass, enacts a fan dance of sorts with various diaphanous scarves, romps with erotic playfulness on a bed of white linens. Six weeks after she had posed, Monroe was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.
Bert Stern was the man who photographed Marilyn that last time, and he thinks the best way to pay tribute to those Marilyn photos is to have Lindsay Lohan recreate them; with the help of extremely talented make-up and hair artists, of course (not to mention the person in charge of air brushing in the editing room).
Lindsay Lohan, another actress whose prodigious fame is not quite commensurate with her professional achievements…he suspected “she had a lot more depth to her” than one might assume from “those teenage movies.”…Without putting too fine a point on it, you might say Lohan has, like Monroe, a knack for courting the tabloids and tripping up her career…Stern said the project also grew out of his interest in “controversial women,” or “bad girls,” like “Britney, Paris, and Lindsay.” Monroe was, in a sense, the original tabloid queen.

Aside from the picture of Lindsay with the yellow flowers – there’s something about her nose that totally bugs – I think everyone involved did a pretty good job; although no one can outshine the great Marilyn.

Nah….sorry, but Lindsay ain’t no Marilyn Monroe anymore than Anna Nicole Smith. Besides, I think Lindsay is a better actor than Marilyn or Anna.

Bert Stern’s judgment must be seriously impaired – this isn’t much of a “tribute” to MM… more of an insult.
