Gilligan’s Mary Ann Busted For Weed

Poor sweet, sweet, Mary Ann, busted for pot after all these years. Sort of.

Last October, 69-year-old Dawn Wells was pulled over by police in Idaho for driving erratically.

On Oct. 18, Teton County sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Gutierrez arrested Wells as she was driving home from a surprise birthday party that was held for her. According to the sheriff’s office report, Gutierrez pulled Wells over after noticing her swerve and repeatedly speed up and slow down. When Gutierrez asked about a marijuana smell, Wells said she’d just given a ride to three hitchhikers and had dropped them off when they began smoking something. Gutierrez found half-smoked joints and two small cases used to store marijuana.

She pled guilty to reckless driving, and this past February 29th Dawn Wells was sentenced to five days in jail, ordered to pay a fine of $410.50, and given six months unsupervised probation.

Ah, sweet stoner Mary Ann; this is not the first time Dawn Wells and marijuana have been mentioned in the same sentence. About ten years back it was rumored that Dawn got a couple bags of weed for herself and Bob Denver, the ever lovable Gilligan; but nothing ever came of it.

UPDATE FROM TMZ:

As TMZ reported yesterday, “Gilligan’s Island” star Dawn Wells was busted with marijuana in her car, but it turns out the pot didn’t even belong to her!

Well’s lawyer says a third party came forward and claimed full responsibility for the marijuana. We’re told the third party was in possession of Dawn’s car that day and had left the joints behind.

Her lawyer claims the reckless driving charge was not the result of alcohol, but Dawn fumbling around for the heater control.

Dawn got a five-day jail sentence but it was suspended. She received the standard fine/informal probation for the offense.
