Here’s a little story about why Facebook sucks right now.
My boyfriend joined some sort of Facebook group last year and added the members from that group to his friends list. Soon he got a warning that he was adding friends too quickly so he stopped, and didn’t mess with it much after that.
Then two weeks ago he took a renewed interest in the group and found that another 500 or so people had joined since he last added friends. So he started adding friends again and was able to add about 160 before he got a warning. He skipped a day, and then started adding 30 to 40 friends a day for about four days.
And wouldn’t you know it, yesterday he got a message from Facebook telling him his account had been disabled. Facebook sucks.
You received numerous warnings to slow down your activity. Failure to adhere to those warnings has resulted in the permanent loss of your account. We will not be able to reactivate your account, nor will you be able to recover any content within the account. This decision is final.
Thank you for understanding,

So he asked them to again please reconsider because he’s a nice guy and means no harm; and it’s not like he’s a spammer or anything. Facebook sucks.

Long story short, my boyfriend is totally bummed and Facebook sucks, and is totally on my @@@@ list. He had built up the account with a ton of his friends and business associates, and now he has to start all over.
And that, my friends, is why Facebook sucks. Today, anyway.

Hmmmm……….. I think I’m a fuddy duddy.
With all due respect, it seems your boyfriend had received “numerous warnings” to slow down the amount of new friends he adds and he failed to heed those warnings. Now mind you, I have no idea what the Terms of Service or usage agreement is on Facebook, since I don’t subscribe to it. But it’s THEIR site. They make the calls, whether I like it or not, agree with it or not.
The 160 “friends” your bf added, getting a warning to slow down and then subsequently adding 30 or 40 “friends” A DAY for four days…
Question: What was the friggin’ rush to add so many people onto his list in a short period of time? Tell me, has he even contacted the 160 people he added, BEFORE adding yet another 30 or 40 more a day for a few days? Makes me wonder what the purpose was for him adding so many on his list in such a hurry.
See? That’s what I don’t get. Like I said, I don’t know what the TOS agreement is but he WAS warned. He might be a nice guy but he can’t seem to adhere to whatever agreement the SITE owners/administration stated. If you don’t play by the rules, you get tossed. If you don’t like the rules, don’t play.
Buck up, Hilary’s boyfriend. You’re a big boy.

Hey Might Mo:
You are probably right.
I am a member of a group in Facebook & have regular interaction with all the people in the group – in & out of Facebook.
I figured it’d be easier to just add them all as friends since you can’t see their profiles without being friends & you don’t have available everything Facebook offers unless they are also your friend.
The limits on friend adding get reset every night for things you did the previous day. So you can generally add a bunch, wait till the next day and add a few more. I guess I just pushed the limit a tad this time. No more Black Hat Facebook. J/K
The TOS say don’t abuse the system. These people are my freinds that I have interaction with. The terms are meant for people spamming others. Like adding a krapload of friends and then sending out mass marketing messages to them, which I don’ t do by the way.
So yea, I can understand if I was sending spam, harassing members, shooting dogs or something like that. Adding people to my friend list just doesn’t seem like a big deal.
To that – Facebook Sucks Facebook Sucks Facebook Sucks Facebook Sucks Facebook Sucks Facebook Sucks
Unless they give me my account back. Then Facebook rocks.

Hey Hil’s BF-
I hope you’re doing well. I’m relieved to know you feel like you pushed the envelope a tad bit, in regards to Facebook. My experience with all this cyberspace links and stuff are THEY decide whatever they do, sometimes with no regards to their own stated agreements.
How do you know the TOS is meant for spammers? And what the hell does “abuse the system” mean anyway? What’s abusive to one, may be perfectly fine and enjoyable to another. I just don’t understand a lot of what’s out there, so I tend to question it.
So Facebook sucks until your account is reactivated? You’re a decent guy but friggin’ crap or get off the pot. Have some standard or dignity. Or you can just be wishy-washy until you get what you want, then you can be supportive until something else happens that you don’t agree with.
But, you’ll survive. Facebook isn’t the only site out there where you can have interaction with others.

FACEBOOK SUCKS, I agree. I was adding friends too and I got the warning, so I stopped and guess what? I was banned anyway. My account was disabled even though I stopped adding friends.
I am going back to Myspace and spend my money there! Facebook sucks, the people who work in the disable accounts department SUCK, they are bunch of arrogant retard. They don’t even reply to email! Why are they being paid for if they don’t reply to emails.
Anyway, I am out of Facebook, so long Facebook! You can go out of business.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Facebook sucks indeed! Because of people posing as celebrities and Facebook’s not doing anything about it. Enter any celebrity name and you get a very long list of the same person and all the posers. Facebook says they won’t allow fake names yet they allow those as well as “Jesus Christ” and “God” and I’m sure that’s not really them using Facebook.
If Facebook wants to be #1 besides imposing ridiculous limits(maximum of 300 groups you can join)they should set their priorities to cracking down on people pretending to be someone they’re not. At least MySpace now has an official celebrity directory(listing all real celebrities). It’s obvious Facebook(I mean FAKEBOOK)could care less and that’s why Facebook sucks big-time!!!!!!!

Facebook is the most primitive, simplistic, and buggy thing I’ve ever seen. It seems to have been written by retarded children, what a joke.

Facebook SUCKS big time…
I was deregistered my account for no particular reasons and had waited a week to get it recovered, after posted emails to the support system. I registered as a new user to another email account of mine. Then when my old facebook account recovered, the administrator asked me to deactivate one of my account , so I did … guess what happened? 2 days after that my current facebook account was disabled by the administrator without any notice. I am so frustrated by the way they handle this matter because I had moved all my friends to the new account and in the end it was disabled.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:12 am
This post is ridiculous. Your reason for saying facebook sucks is that it wouldn’t allow your evident whore of a boyfriend to add a gargantuan amount of ‘friends’ in a short period?
That’s the site’s discrepency, and it’s not like he needed to talk to all thos people.
What a @@@@ article, I can’t really be @@@d to go into more detail.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:47 am
Facebook sucks like the vacuum of deep space because they keep asking for my cell phone # and I don’t have one because I can’t talk. And when I try to enter security code the picture with the letters and #s don’t appear.
November 5th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Yes!!! Totally agreed!!! FaceBook Sucks!!! They Disabled my account for no reason, no even one warming email, no any notice!!
Before they disabled my account, honestly I do like facebook lots but now … Disappointed !!! I spend lots time created my account and upload all the photos, and I didn’t register with fake name or upload any sexually explicit photos. I behave very well …but now they just made me felt I waste my time for doing this @@@@!!!(sorry, am still very upset and angry because my account was disabled by last night)
Anyway, without facebook I still have other choice right? Myspace, Friendster ..etc .
Perhaps, Is time for me to change and try something new
Cheers,
Callie
November 18th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Yes, Facebook did the same thing to me. I own a nightclub, I used facebook to get people o join my club’s group. No spam, no porno, nothing. They shut you down if you add friends too fast but don’t tell you what IS allowed- they should set a limit and TELL you what it is, or make you pay for more. Some of us have real lives and real businesses to run, and want to get our on-line marketing working quickly. But I understand that they are planning to charge $3 a month for membership, and I hope they all go broke. Friggin’ scumbags, in my view. Screw ‘em.
November 22nd, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Hey Scott Williams,
You want to use Facebook to promote your business and you think that service should be free? Maybe if you went to school for business, you would understand that $3 a month for Facebook publicity is a decent investment.
December 6th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
I think that is so lame! What’s so wrong with having a lot of friends? If all those people accepted the requests, it should be fine. If it was a spammer and they accepted, that’s their fault.
Other reasons why I hate facebook:
EVERY move you make on the website is published for your friends to see. I have gone and made it so most things won’t appear on news feed, but it’s annoying when I log in and I see stupid things like “Steven changed his profile picture” or “Ashley wrote on Erica’s wall” So what! I don’t care and honestly, I don’t think anyone else does either.
It’s hard to make your profile private. Even after I’d checked boxes that I wanted only my friends to see my profile, I found out that everyone living in my city and going to my school could see my profile. I finally figure out how to fix the problem but it’s too complicated for just being a social network site. On myspace, all you have to do is check a box for your WHOLE profile to be private, you don’t have to go through and individually make your pictures, wall, info etc private.
Even after you’ve deactivated your account, facebook still holds onto your data. You should be given an option, if you want it permanently deleted or if you want them to keep your info in case you want to join back again.
They FORCE you to put your first and last name! I’ve seen people just put in shortened versions of last names before, but why the heck can I not just have my first name?? I am not going to add strangers anyway, so if I sent you a friend request or accepted yours, it means I know you anyway so the whole world doesn’t need to see my full name.
The 3-4 years I have had a myspace account I’ve only gotten maybe 1 or 2 strange men send me a friend request or message. On facebook, I used to get things ALL THE TIME saying someone had flirted with me, or rated me or wants to date me etc. I finally blocked about a dozen perverted applications. I still get some random friend requests from older men and it kinda creeps me out.
Whenever I mention things I don’t like about facebook, the obsessed facebook lovers get exxxxttttreeeeeemmmmmeeeeeellllllyyyyyyyy defensive and practically cry about it. You’d think I was insulting their own mother. If you insult myspace, myspace fans just shrug it off.

I hate Facebook, too. I don’t have and will never get a Facebook profile.
All my friends got a profile on Facebook, and I don’t understand them. Disclosing yourself on internet is just ridiculous.
By the way… your boyfriend had leisure issues. That’s fact.

Facebook is a complete waste of time. I can’t imagine why you really would want to add that many friends….which is one of the reasons facebook is so completely stupid. Why would anyone want to know the information they have on the site is beyond me! And those stupid apps! People sending you imaginary gifts and spamming you to join things! I really don’t care if Jane wrote on D@@k’s wall or was poked and did the poking. And then there are the friend whores who only add you as a friend for the sheer joy of being able to say that they have x amount of friends! It’s like high school all over again except everything is written down for all to see! It’s very impersonal and extremely pointless! If you really want to know what’s going on with someone, why don’t you call them! Whatever happened to people actually being genuine people and socializing in person instead of the cold, sterile way that facebook offers? Whatever!

friend /frɛnd/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [frend] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
What kind of attention seeking whore needs to add 120 random people IN A SINGLE DAY and call them “friends”. Had he even talked to a single one of those people in his “group”? The whole group thing is equally as retarded. For instance, I like having my @@@@ sucked, but I sure as @@@@ didn’t join the “hands up if you like BJs” group and definitely didn’t have 12893615681238512385123887512397123987123 “friends” whom also liked getting blown for the 3 days I was stupid enough to keep my facebook account active.
In short, die.

Don’t parents find it a tad creepy having teenagers throw pics up online ? If I was a parent I would’nt want my 17, 18 yr old daughter putting pics of herself and other INFO on any social networking site
And why does a teen even need a social networking site ? You cant get enough social time in at jr high or high school ? why not keep the pics between u and REAL friends you have..and do u trust any 17, 18 yr in making the right choice in who they should add ass friends ? especially when most will add anybody just so they can inflate the # of friends they have…Its all a tad creepy IMO

Facebook is a Nazi web site. They try to FORCE conformation to information they want…what the user wants is not important.
Same with Google…which is why I’m baffled about our society’s love affair with Google. Google is designed to promoting what Google’s clients WANT YOU TO SEE n READ and more importantly what Google “thinks” you should see and read. The only real search is for data on the topic from Google’s customers….NOT all the data out on the web.
This is NOT a unique idea, thought or way to infulencing society, these guys also deployed the same tatic:
Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Ruhollah Khomeini, King Edward…
Don’t believe me…. make a purchase online…then watch what Google serves you up every search you make.

You’re only cool, or popular, if you add 300 acquaintances to your online profile.
I guess I should add my entire high school class, for that matter. Also, my entire elementary school class. Also, I’m going to add everyone who ever worked at the same place as me and people I’ve randomly met otherwise in life. Friends.

2days ago. facebook acc disabled without LAST WARNING. previously i had warning for posting too many message a day. later i din post anymore, i just add friends for playing facebook game. if facebook dun allow ppl to add friend, why they create such game require ppl to add friend in order to build up stronger group in that game. is totally don’t make sense.
April 29th, 2009 at 4:16 am
I too got yank out and was not taking this very well from facebook. I had a very clean profile and interesting group on facebook that everyone seam to enjoy then all my notes, pics and links got deleted with very little remorce. I think if you can had friends to your list or invite people to join your group then something is very wrong here. After all I run a fly fishing group here and have been in MSN for the last 10 years and number one in rankings up until their MSN groups closure. My personal opinion about facebook is do not get taken like I have been taken looking like a fool. Stay away from facebook if they treat others like crap. It’s real easy for some to sit there and say that’s their policy and they call the shots but in reality, it’s simply bad business and I think they get mad at people if you don’t purchase their so call group advertisement. Facebook team, I hope you read this because you really do suck big time.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:20 pm
I had a facebook account for awhile, I didn’t use it much for over a year, maybe more. I added a friend at the friend’s request and within a few days I ended up adding dozens of friends through a network of friends (close to 100). I was a prominent member of an organization of which former members now seek support through networking tools like facebook.
In addition to adding many friends I did have some nude pictures on there, I admit that I did not read the fine print and I thought that only a few friends could see the pictures.
I’m a little surprised that freedoms are surpressed and censorship is so punitive when facebook friendships are restricted to only those you allow to see your account. What happens between friends is the business of facebook? I was sharing pictures with close friends only. I wouldn’t want my mom to see them, therefore I wouldn’t accept her as a friend. Without warning my account was disabled.
I have mixed feelings about it. I question how “private” facebook is and I question their “punishment.” There was never an opportunity to correct the situation, which I would have gladly done. I question the “right” facebook has to allow you to establish a network that they arbitrarily take away, without any kind of due process there will be friends with which I will never be able to reconnect.
There are limits to how much any business can regulate or censor its customers, even violate their constitutional rights, when they invite the public to their business. If I am in a store and the store doesn’t like a picture I show a friend, can the store kick me out? Can they ban me from the store permanently? How far does public policy allow us to go with the censorship?
Facebook is a private company, but so is the telephone company and they can’t disconnect a call because they don’t like the subject of my conversation. The post office is not public and they can’t refuse to deliver mail for which they find the contents offensive. If I violate the policies of the phone company, post office or any store they do not have the right to dismiss me permanently without a warning, notice or hearing. Personally, I think it is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Generally harm or loss must attach. In addition to the emotional distress people suffer, what about the connections people make to stay with others around the world? When those connections are lost, it isn’t difficult to calculate a monetary loss. In addition to many other scenarios, there may even be medical or healthcare advice being exchanged that could cause serious injury or death. I realize that facebook is putting the public on “notice” when it has the policy online. However, those wrap-around or adhesion contracts do not stand up in every state. Facebook should have an expectation that they could be hauled into court in any jurisdicton through long arm statutes and international treaty. I’m sure they address that in their “contract” as well, but, again, those don’t always stand up.
What’s also interesting is that apparently some receive a warning and some do not. This is but one of the warnings found on facebook’s “help center warnings.”
“You received this warning because a photo or video that you uploaded has been removed for violating Facebook’s Terms of Use. Photos and videos containing nudity, drug use, or other graphic content are not allowed, nor are photos or videos that depict violence or that attack an individual or group. Unfortunately, for technical reasons, we are unable to provide further information about the removed content. In order to prevent this from happening in the future, please refrain from posting photos or videos of this kind and remove any that still exist on the site.”
http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=224415094251742
Apparently there are different standards for different individuals. It would be interesting to see the different standards used for different groups. In other words, is facebook discriminating? Does facebook have less tolerance for gays, lesbians, blacks, hispanics, women, etc.? They invited the public, they have to play by the rules of our society. The rules include some constitutional rights. While it is true that I don’t have to join facebook anymore than I have to go to a store, it is also true that no one ever said facebook had to open a business and invite the public.

what i think is very amazing about FB. They tell you not to add many people at a time then they get these crazy apps that require you to add many people to do well within that app. uh hello does this make sense???? if they are going to make money from generating relationships with apps that make money off the sponsors of the game then FB should understand that they will have to adjust policy a little to allow all to work within a better system that allows all to do what is needed as long as they do not create spammers. if spamming allows i think there is a report button that can advise Face Clowns of an issue.
this is just an observation of facebook. i tried FB now i am not on it. it is just to restrictive and really does not allow anything really creative. anyways i have much better things to do with my time then try to find people i do not know to join me.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Facebook is totally a tool for: a) gathering data on users and then using that data to identify and charge companies a fee to place their products on facebook, etc. b) Used by govt to keep an eye on anyone that is thinking outside the box and that seeks to hold our politicians accountable for their statements and lobby them, if necessary, to ensure that our voices are heard.
It has nothing to do with respecting customers…. Facebook gives no evidence of wrongdoing, in most cases, they give a blanket, general statement then ban or eliminate accounts. It’s totally unconstitutional and it the total opposite of what a social network should be!
July 6th, 2009 at 6:03 am
I can fully understand why the disable your account when you add many people as friends, although you do not actually know them. Facebook is operated by the CIA and its main goal is to gather information about people. That’s why we have to use our real names. If you behave suspicious in any way, they will make background checks of all of your friends. If you you add too many fake friends, you will appear in their friend list and they need one more background check. That makes the opration, which is payed from our tax money, even more expensive. We all should only publish honest information, so that the nice people from the CIA, who read all our messages on Facebook, can sort out the terrorists among us very quickly.

January 2nd, 2010 at 6:02 pm
I agree completely with the article. FaceBook is all about making, adding, and interacting with friends. Then when you use their service the way it was designed to do, they tell you to stop.
That’s not what Customer-driven businesses do. They strive to improve so they can meet the needs of the customer, work with the customer, negotiate with the customer; realizing that the customer is their most valuable resource.
Companies like FaceBook do the exact opposite.
January 8th, 2010 at 1:07 am
Facebook also did that to me and I ended up at Twitter instead. I recommend Twitter to everybody and believe me, you’ll love it there.
January 13th, 2010 at 8:44 am
I never got a warning from Facebook to slow down on adding friends,as I never had that many anyway. I deleted my own account. Facebook is dull and borinng. It is owned and run by a bunch of Jabronis anyway! MySpace doesn’t seem to care how many friends you have,as I currently have 526 friends there(some have over 100,000 friends or even 3,000,000 friends).
January 19th, 2010 at 11:10 am
Facebook disabled my account claiming that my name could not be real. I was born in Aguadilla Puerto Rico. If you know Spanish tradition, the child has both parents last names. I got a first, middle, father’s last name and mother’s last name. There is nothing false about it. I even offered to fax them a copy of my birth certificate. They told me not to bother and that I am banned from Facebook. Who cares!

I cant understand how to add your place in my rss bookworm. Help me, please

I have been interupted on fb twice due to maintenance and can not get into my account. This is a problem because I am involved with co-ops on farmville and can’t do my job. I do not understand why my account has come up “not available due to maintenance” and other people have never had this problem; therefore I truly think FB sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 16th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
There is a new one out there that records no information at all and has a password system that can hide everything if you don’t want to let any one see anything. It’s called Me’ Mini Post.
Its like a open twitter with more and they dont keep old posts or record anything not even your IP. It’s add free and they also let you atach youtube videos, photos, and links and they dont use up your post count. They have tuchscreen apps and 3 modes to there site like Wide, Normal, and Mini.
I have been impresed with there site.
They keep everything simple, and easy. So if your looking for a place to share posts with your friends that is the place to go, you can comment on pages, upload photos, fan & follow people, and they let you have a cool feed on your site with a small code that is in there menu, also they give some of the best of both twitter and facebook like email like message system.
Take a look and sorry for going on about them but as its a new site its hard to show people what they have.
June 25th, 2010 at 8:21 am
Man! I truly believe of what you’ve said ! Its true…
I really really really really really felt so bad of what facebook had done to me..
they give me warning and after that… (sigh)
they’ve still blocked and blocked and blocked me from adding friends on my account…
further adding friends could result in BANNING my account… T.T
that’s why i’m afraid to add friends since then …
afraid on getting BAN…
Is it really a MISTAKE TO ADD FRIENDS AND MAKE A CONNECTION TO THEM???
a complain that I want facebook to read!!
June 29th, 2010 at 6:39 pm
facebook does indeed suck!!i spent some good time uploading rock band photos and creating a general facebook acount. i had no inappropriate photos at all on facebook.i recieved no warnings or any indication of trouble from facebook.then today i tried going on to access my account and it was totally gone! as if it never existed.what the hell happened to my all my photos and information? i,ve been reading many of these dissatisfied comments and facebook seems to have some really bad practices.i am not going to go to the trouble of trying again to set up a facebook account.if this is the way facebook operates and treats people then screw facebook.i hope they do go out of business!!fuck them i,m done with them!

I do not understand all those people who left Myspace and went to Facebook. MySpace is so much more superior in any way compared to Facebook. There is just too much to mention. And they would never ban people over adding too many friends, cause that is such a childish thing to do. I have a Facebook account with zero friends on it, just to check out some accounts of my friends overthere, but I don’t see anything what Myspace doesn’t have. And since there has been so fuss about how Facebook handles our privacy, I decided not to use my account. Heck, if they delete it because I don’t add enough friends -one never knows- then so be it. I’m on Myspace, I have e-mail and I have a phone. Those are enough options to contact me. Don’t need Facebook and I think Facebook totally sucks.
September 29th, 2010 at 2:36 pm
It’s lame. To many fake names and dupe accounts are allowed. They are most def
pro liberal. Say anything bad against libs or muslims and your account disappears. The facebook owner is a crook anyway. Just like Bill Gates he ripped off other peoples ideas Americans don’t care. America loves rewarding
crooks.

I’m hating Facebook now. Whenever someone who’s a non-friend likes one of my comments, well, I’d like to add them to my friend’s list. Now I have to check a little box that says I will only add people I already know and I am being blocked from adding anyone for two days.
This is supposed to be a SOCIAL NETWORK–hello?! I hate Fakebook!! And everyone’s on Myspace’s case, but they never pulled this crap with me!

Facebook’s abuse of claiming that people are adding too many friends makes no sense except as a means of thwarting political networking, and they have been known to delete political pages.
Facebook offers a list “People You May Know” yet sends me spam messages when I use it.
When I try to start a page about it, Facebook won’t let me.
Facebook is getting more like the CIA in thwarting political activism. If it offers names of people I may know, it has NO business to assume something different when I use it….
Let’s have an alternative platform as Facebook is hurting its credibility with this crap. They are like a hypothetical cop who arbitrarily claims one is “speeding” when there is no posted speed limit.

I agree – Facebook sucks. I wanted to upload a video and the notice popped up that I was banned from uploading videos. I had no warning and the few videos that I posted in the past should not have violated any of their terms. ????????????? Should I have not uploaded a video clip of my grand-baby (he was fully clothed)? What were they complaining about? NO WARNING, NO DISCUSSION – YOU’RE BANNED. Wow! now I have to worry about having to many friends?
