Maybe Lindsay Lohan figured since she was in Washington D.C. and therefore not in an actual state, it would be ok to down a couple redbull and vodkas.

Sorry LiLo, it doesn’t work that way. You see, you are an alcoholic and you always will be. That’s just the way it goes. And because you can’t have “just a little” you cannot have any at all. At all. So the little drink you made for yourself with your back turned to people and thought nobody saw you drink? Yeah, that little drink is a huge no-no.

You know, I was honestly pulling for Lindsay Lohan to have a successful sobriety; and it looked like things were going well. She wasn’t running around causing chaos, and this relationship with Samantha Ronson really seemed to help calm her. But like so many other things in Hollywood, it was all smoke and mirrors.

Smoke and mirrors is a metaphor for a deceptive, fraudulent or insubstantial explanation or description. The source of the name is based on magicians’ illusions, where magicians make objects appear or disappear by extending or retracting mirrors amid a confusing burst of smoke. The expression may have a connotation of virtuosity or cleverness in carrying out such a deception.
