MC Hammer’s Cousin Bigg Marv Arrested On Suspicion Of Rape

When are people going to learn that meeting someone on Twitter and then going to a hotel room with them has the potential to not end well?

Marvin Turell Grant, better known as MC Hammer’s cousin Bigg Marv, was arrested today in Tracy, CA on suspicion of raping a woman he met through Twitter.

I’m going to stay totally neutral on this story, as I have met Bigg Marv and MC Hammer on more than one occasion, and the family is close personal friends with close personal friends of mine.

That being said, here’s what is being reported.

A woman from Los Angeles went to the Livermore Police Department on Wednesday morning and said had been raped by Grant the day before.

She told investigators that she started communicating with Marvin via Twitter and e-mail, it then turned into romantic phone calls and they decided to meet in person.

Bigg Marv met her at the hotel where she was staying and took her out to dinner, after which they went back to the hotel. The woman said he began to fondle her and that she asked him to stop because they had just met.

But, according to the complainant, he didn’t stop and instead pinned her down and sexually assaulted her. She told police she tried to make him stop but couldn’t because of Grant’s size, and that when it was over he got dressed and left the hotel without saying a word.

When police called Bigg Marv on Wednesday he told them he would turn himself in that day, but he never did. Then he said he would go in on Thursday morning, but he didn’t do that either.

Around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday Marvin Turell Grant, a.k.a Bigg Marv, a.k.a. Lyin’ Marvin was taken into custody by Tracy Police; he was arrested without incident.

Representatives for A&E, the network that airs MC Hammer’s reality show Hammertime, had no official comment, but did say that had not heard of the arrest until a reporter called them.
