Heidi Hamels Goes Into Labor – Cole Hamels Leaves Game

If you’re a big Survivor fan like I am, you will surely remember the 2003 season in the Amazon, when two of the female contestants took off their clothes during a challenge so they could have chocolate and peanut butter. Not just their shirts, either – they took off all of their clothes. One of the women was Jenna Morasca, who eventually won the season and is now madly in love with another former Survivor winner and current cancer fighter Ethan Zohn; and the other was Heidi Strobel.

As a result of their naked shenanigans, Heidi and Jenna appeared on the cover and in the pages of Playboy in August 2003.

The following year Heidi Strobel met Philadelphia Phillies’ pitcher Cole Hamels at a minor league baseball game in Florida where she was throwing out the first pitch. They married on New Year’s Eve 2006.

Now Heidi Hamels, the pitcher’s wife has accomplished what little else can – she got her husband to drop everything and leave his game. Sure, it’s because she was in labor, but still; it’s pretty awesome that he left the game to be with her.

Phillies starter Cole Hamels has left Citizens Bank ballpark in the middle of the second game of the National League Division Series to be with his wife, Heidi Strobel Hamels, who has gone into labor at a nearby hospital. It will be the first child for the couple…

Phillies starter Cole Hamels gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings against the Rockies. He left after throwing 82 pitches and rushed out of the dugout when he was pinch hit for in the fifth inning.

Cole Hamels said that this week his wife was due “any day.”
