For what seems like forever, HostGator has been teasing us with the promise of HostGator VPS Hosting.
Well guess what…..it’s finally here!
VPS stands for Virtual Private Server.
A virtual private server is explained as “a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine.” Each VPS runs its own complete operating system, and each one can be rebooted independently.
Basically, virtual private servers close the gap between dedicated hosting services and shared ones – you’re on a shared hosting server, but are independent of others on the server when it comes to controlling and configuring your site.
HostGator has VPS plans (they call them “levels”) starting at $19.95 a month – with no activation fees or contracts. But you’ve gotta hurry because this offer is only good for the first 200 clients. When they hit 200, HostGator will disable the sign ups for about a month before they open it up again.
HostGator boasts that their software is flexible and easy to use, and that they have cutting edge server hardware, a top of the line network, and award winning support. Their VPS plans are customizable to meet your specific web server hosting needs.
Thank you HostGator for finally releasing your VPS Hosting. The anticipation has been almost intolerable.

HostGator now provide VPS (Virtual Private Sever) at a very cheap price and the above article also explains how they function and what are the benefits. As VPS works on a Advanced software which technically functions like dedicated server but on a virtual shared server.
