David Copperfield Is Not A Rapist. Just So Ya Know.

Remember a few years ago when a former Miss Washington USA accused magician David Copperfield of raping her while on his private island in the Bahamas?

Offering no reason or explanation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington filed papers with the court on Tuesday essentially dropping the case against Copperfield. Emily Langlie, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office told PEOPLE, “We filed a notice today that we had terminated the grand jury inquiry.”

No official charges were ever brought against David Copperfield, but the scandal certainly did its damage.

Always maintaining his innocence, Copperfield’s representative have always alleged that the woman was not telling the truth, and that their client never forced himself on the then 21-year-old.

The investigation into the woman’s claims of rape became public over two years ago when law enforcement officials conducted searches at David Copperfield’s properties in Las Vegas.

Now that the case has been dropped more details about Copperfield’s accuser are coming to light. Things like how she maybe used to be a prostitute.

The woman who accused David Copperfield of sexually assaulting her had made a similar claim against another man, and cops are saying there is evidence that she gave false statements to a police officer and engaged in prostitution … this according to a news report.

…According to The Seattle Times, the woman — a former Miss Washington Pageant contestant — was questioned by cops after a man claimed she tried to charge him for sex.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the police report, which states the man claimed she performed oral sex on him in a hotel room in Bellevue, Washington on December 2. According to the report, the man says the woman then told him, “put $2,000 in my purse and you can have it all.”

He told police when he refused to ante up money, she left the room — sans panties and tights — went to the hotel lobby and told hotel workers she had been “taken advantage of.”

The man called cops and said he was being extorted. She also called the cops, claiming she didn’t remember going to the room and when she came to he was on top of her.

According to documents, the woman was later reluctant to pursue the matter because, “She was worried this case would tarnish the other case [Copperfield].”

Um…..yeah…..she sounds credible.

Man, poor David Copperfield. Sure his name has been cleared, but just the accusations themselves have tarnished his career; perhaps beyond repair.
