I know it’s basically Hollywood gossip blasphemy, but I did not watch the Academy Awards tonight.

Nope, I decided instead to go see Alice in Wonderland in 3D then hang out with my boyfriend.

To be perfectly honest, I think I made the right choice – it sounds like I didn’t miss a whole heck of a lot.

The In Memoriam part of the Oscars ceremony, on the other hand, was missing at least three things. More like three people…..Bea Arthur, Ed McMahon, and Farrah Fawcett. The Academy did, however, remember to include Brittany Murphy.

Um…..I’m sorry…..what??

While it’s normal for a few names to be left off the list each year, it’s the “who” in who was left out this time around that makes me cringe.

Oh sure, there was a nice tribute to director John Hughes – with a bunch of his “stars” waxing nostalgic – but come on! Tai’s in and Dorothy Zbornak is out??

So. Not. Cool.

Roger Ebert thinks the snub was pretty f**ked too, having tweeted, “No Farrah Fawcett in the memorial tribute? Major fail.”

So, if the Academy isn’t going to honor Bea Arthur, Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett the way they should, then I guess I will.

Bea Arthur – (May 13, 1922 – April 25, 2009)

Ed McMahon – (March 6, 1923 – June 23, 2009)

Farrah Fawcett – (February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009)
