Corey Haim Autopsy – Says A Lot And Nothing At All

Corey Haim’s mom says a heart condition killed him and while the L.A. Coroner will admit Haim had pulmonary congestion, an enlarged heart and water in his lungs at the time of his death, they will not go as far as naming an official cause of death.

L.A. Coroner Chief Craig Harvey confirms that the Corey Haim autopsy was completed at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday but points out, “The final cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests that have been ordered.”

There are probably a combination of factors that contributed to the 38-year-old’s death – heart problems, years and years of drug abuse, the flu – I don’t think the coroner will find that it’s just one thing.

According to Corey Haim’s ex-fiancé, Tiffany Shepis, he knew he had heart problems but he never did anything about it. Oh yeah, and the drugs.

“Every time he would go to a doctor they’d tell him he had really bad arrhythmia, probably due to clogged arteries,” she says. “They all said he should have it taken care of. But, being from Canada, his insurance was there, so he never went and got it done.”

Shepis, who was engaged to Haim briefly between 2008 and 2009, says he also struggled with addiction. “His problem was with prescription drugs – painkillers and Valium,” she says. “His addictions are common knowledge. And the longer [you] are addicted to something, the harder it is for you to quit. And that’s what he was facing.”
