I’m going to go out on a limb here and claim that it was because of my vote that Richard Pombo lost. Thank you! I’m so glad that I made a difference in the world. I’m not the only one happy to see him go… We bring you a special Grist tribute to the man who dreamt at night of shoving oil drills down the throats of endangered species… Ah, Dick. Remember when you tried to sell off drilling rights in the Arctic National Wildlife... 

I wasn’t going to post anything today, but I just couldn’t let this one slip by. Laura Bush was in Pleasanton, CA yesterday (11/3/06) to support Richard Pombo in his campaign for Congress. As I mentioned in my post the other day, I don’t have fond feelings for Richard Pombo. The only thing I find respectable about Laura Bush is that she used to sell pot in college. You know, back in the days when she and Dubya were smokin’... 

I’m not from the Central Valley and I don’t plan to stay here for the rest of my life, so generally the politics around here goes in one ear and out the other. I pay attention enough to know what’s going on, but I don’t put much thought or energy into a reaction. This coming election day, however, that changes. I will NOT be voting for Richard Pombo. I wish I could walk in there and just check a big NO POMBO box, but I will just...
